Scheduled Maintenance Windows: What to Expect

As PaperGuru ships features continuously, we are introducing fixed maintenance windows for large-scale upgrades — every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from UTC 00:00 to 02:00. Here is what that means for your work.

PaperGuru ships fast. Multiple releases land in production every day — new features, performance improvements, bug fixes. For the vast majority of these, deployment is seamless and invisible to you. But some upgrades are more involved: database migrations, data backups, and transitions in the sandbox runtime that powers the Agent environment. These require a bit more care, and doing them unpredictably in the middle of someone's research session is not acceptable.

Starting today, we are reserving fixed windows for this category of larger upgrades.

The Maintenance Window Schedule

Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, UTC 00:00 – 02:00 (UTC+8 08:00 – 10:00) is our designated slot for significant system upgrades. Any update that involves data backup, storage migration, or sandbox runtime transitions will be scheduled within one of these windows — not outside them.

Routine deployments — the small, frequent updates that carry no risk of disruption — continue to ship at any time, as they always have.

What This Means for Your Work

During a maintenance window, you may experience brief interruptions: a session that needs to reconnect, a Lab Compute instance that pauses and resumes, or a short period where certain features are temporarily unavailable. We will do our best to make every transition smooth and to ensure no work or data is lost. That said, we want to be transparent: large-scale upgrades carry inherent complexity, and the safest thing you can do is avoid scheduling critical work — long experiment runs, final paper drafts before a deadline — during these two-hour windows.

If you are in a timezone where the UTC window overlaps with your working hours, the UTC+8 framing may be a useful reference: 08:00 – 10:00 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings.

Our Commitment

We take the predictability of your research environment seriously. The maintenance window policy exists precisely because we want to ship improvements quickly without making your workflow feel unpredictable. By concentrating the riskier changes into known, bounded slots, we can move fast the rest of the time with confidence that any heavy lifting is happening at a time you can plan around.

We will always announce upcoming maintenance in advance when we know a window will be active — watch for notices in the app. If a window passes without any significant upgrade, nothing happens and your work is unaffected.

每周二、周四、周六,UTC 00:00 – 02:00(北京时间 08:00 – 10:00)为系统重大升级的专用时段。所有涉及数据备份、存储迁移或沙箱运行时切换的更新,都将在这些时段内进行,不会在其他时间执行。

常规部署——那些频繁发布、不存在中断风险的小版本更新——仍会随时上线,与以往一致。

对你的工作意味着什么

在维护时段内,你可能会遇到短暂的中断:会话需要重新连接、Lab Compute 实例暂停后恢复,或某些功能短时间内不可用。我们会尽力确保每次迁移平滑过渡,不丢失任何数据。但我们也希望坦诚地说明:大规模升级本身存在一定的复杂性。最稳妥的做法是,避免在这两小时内安排关键工作——例如长时间的实验运行,或截稿前最后阶段的论文写作。

对于使用北京时间的用户,这一时段对应每周二、四、六上午 8:00 至 10:00,通常不在深度工作时间内,影响应当有限。

我们非常重视研究环境的可预期性。设立固定维护时段,正是为了让我们能够持续快速迭代,同时不让你的工作流程感到不可捉摸。将风险较高的变更集中在已知的时间段内,其余时间我们可以放心快速推进,你也可以安心规划自己的工作。

每当维护时段有重要升级计划时,我们会提前在应用内发出通知,请留意相关提示。如果某次时段内没有重大升级,则一切如常,你的工作不受任何影响。
